Defining Gideon Klein - Terezin, 1941-1944
- Date
- Thursday 23 April 2015
Dr David Fligg will lecture on the theme ‘Defining Gideon Klein - Terezin, 1941-1944’ on 23 April 2015 at the University of Edinburgh.
Fligg's lecture is part of a study day called Performing Memory: The Holocaust in Music and Poet. In the face of extreme trauma, human experience exists not only at the edge of words, but of (or perhaps beyond) comprehensibility. This study day seeks to question the role of poetry and music that was written within concentration camps in relationship to Arnold Schoenberg’s conception of Holocaust memory in A Survivor from Warsaw.
Time: 2.00-2.40pm
Location: 50 George Square Rm 3.39
