Composer, performer and record producer, Wilhelm Grosz was a rising star in Europe until the rise of the Nazis. Fleeing Berlin for Vienna in 1933, he realised that London was a safer haven for his young family, but in Britain the composer was blocked by the Musician’s Union. Under the pseudonym of Will Grant, he made a successful songwriting career with hits such as Red Sails in the Sunset and Isle of Capri. Red Riding Hood was one of three collaborations with the popular British children’s author, Rose Fyleman. The dialogue is camp, witty and charming, and the music is fun.
